Director & Chairman: John Jacobsen

board-jjacobsenJohn and his wife Lorraine have been residents of Nanoose Bay for five years since his retirement from a long career with Precision Drilling. The culmination of John’s career with Precision Drilling was several years as vice president of operations for Precision’s large Canadian fleet of rigs, equipment and services. From 1995 through 2007 John served as Precision’s representative and director for the Canadian Association of Oil Well Drilling Contractors. In this position he was responsible for introducing new and innovative training and apprenticeship programs which significantly improved the safety performance of the industry. John has served and chaired on major industry service boards and is currently a board member of the BC Oil and Gas Commission and chair of their HR Committee.

Director & Secretary: Bud McFarland

board-bmcfarlandBud McFarland has been a resident and homeowner at Nanoose since early 1990. Bud managed the Beachcomber Marina from 1990 to 1992. Since 1994 Bud has operated FJM Services & Management specializing in project management and contract monitoring mainly for BC Parks and the CVRD. Bud’s prior work history includes service with the RCMP, experience in various management positions with BC Parks, and sales positions in both the automotive and real estate fields. Bud and his wife, Darlene, enjoy living in the Beachcomber area. First elected in 2011, Bud has been a director of NFPS and serves on the board’s HR Committee. He is happy to be of service to the Nanoose Bay community.

Director & Treasurer: Ron Lampard

board-rlampardRon Lampard and his wife Maureen have lived on Vancouver Island since 1974 and moved to Nanoose in 1991. In 2002 Ron retired from a 40 year career with BC Parks having worked throughout the Province. With spare time on his hands Ron got elected to the Board of the Nanoose Volunteer Fire Department in 2002 and is now the Treasurer.

Director: Neil Watson

board-nwatsonNeil comes to the Nanoose Fire Protection Society board of directors as the appointee of the Northwest Nanoose Resident’s Association. He is a resident of Nanoose Bay since 1987. He and his wife, Donna, have established deep roots in our community through his wealth management practice and the raising of their three daughters. Neil considers himself a “community builder” as evidenced by his time and effort at establishing the Parksville Community & Conference Centre and the Parksville Curling Club. Since joining NFPS, he has focused on human resource matters.

Director: John Tosney

board-jtosneyJohn and his wife Linda have been residents of Nanoose for 12 years. They have five adult children and nine grandchildren. John is a retired Mining Engineer with pertinent experience over a 50-year period from Miner to Mining Executive. Of interest, John was a Captain of underground Mine Rescue teams, he has been involved with Preparation of Mining Risk Assessments and Preparation of Mining Emergency Response Plans. John has also served on various boards, including Saskatchewan Mining Association, Saskatchewan Research Council, Saskatchewan Rugby Union and two Jr Mine Exploration and Development Companies (TSX listed). John was a member of a Community Volunteer Fire Brigade and is now pleased to be a Director of the NFPS Board.

Director: Lindy England

board-lenglandLindy and her family settled on Vancouver Island in 1999 and moved to River’s Edge in Nanoose Bay in 2013. Lindy has a Master’s degree in Hydrogeology and studied Physical Oceanography at the post-graduate level. Lindy worked in research and industrial science early in her career. While raising her family, Lindy fulfilled several volunteer roles, including Treasurer of the PAC at Mt. Doug High and Strata Council for Tuscany Village. Lindy enjoys contributing to the local community and is delighted to be a volunteer director of the NFPS.
